Willie E. Maddox, Sr.

 

On Saturday January 6, 2007 Willie Maddox Sr. went to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while doing what he loved best, giving the testimony of his faith to friends.

Mr. Maddox, 63, was born in Bunkie, Louisiana and has lived in Hayes for the past 12 years. He served in the United States Army Reserve. He worked as an offshore driller for over 28 years. Mr. Maddox was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hayes. He was also a member of the Gideons Ministry and was also a minister of the Calcasieu Parish Jail. In his spare time Mr. Maddox also had a nursing home ministry. He loved Genealogy, Photography and was a huge LSU and New Orleans Saints fan.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia Cassell Maddox of Hayes, three sons; Willie Maddox Jr., and his wife Cathy of Lake Charles, Todd Maddox and his companion Brook of Rapid City, South Dakota and Aaron Maddox and his companion Tonya of Maurice, La, Two grandchildren; Morgan and Logan Maddox, one step grandson Dante Laporta, two brothers; Adrian and Ronnie Maddox both of Lake Charles, four sisters; Alice Thibodaux of Liberty, TX, Mary Louise Hanagriff, Joan Wood and Wanda Gary all of Lake Charles.

Mr. Maddox is preceded in death by two brothers Buzz and Charlie Earl Maddox and his parents Charlie and Rosa Maddox.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday January 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM from the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jaceson Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Bay Springs Cemetery in Chopin, Louisiana. Visitation will begin on Monday at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Tuesday at 8:00 AM until the time of services. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM in Chopin, LA.
